Just about every designer understands if a customer asks for a room that’s calm as well as tranquil, there’s only one direction to go with the furnishings, and that’s East. Imagine fountains, bonzai, graceful flowers, beautiful screens and unique sculptures. It is possible to bring a touch of the orient in lots of ways, but one of the most straightforward is to add a statue of the Buddha. There are more than one hundred ‘standard’ positions and 3 distinct orientations for these statues, so there will be one which would be appropriate for virtually any living space, even when it is an awkward shape or size.

Buffets along with desks almost all seem to cry out for a seated Buddha, gardens and balconies may be just right for the standing Buddha, yet quite a few spaces require an object a lot wider than tall. Here the perfect thing is a reclining Buddha.

Almost all Buddha statues share 32 features believed to have been bodily characteristics from the original Gautama Buddha who was born in approximately 563 BC. These are also known as the ‘Thirty Two Signs of a Great Man’, and include:

•    flat feet

•    a pointed head

•    beautiful golden skin

•    long fingers the same length

•    long toes all the same length

•    a robe draped over one shoulder

•    long ear lobes

The Buddha wasn’t in favor of idolizations of his own body, and so the real question is, why are there any statues of the Buddha at all?

It seems this may be another matter that may be attirbuted to  the Greeks, and on one Greek in particular, Alexander the Great. When Alexander  occupied India and Afghanistan, the leader placed many soldiers and artists behind, therefore the art associated with this region had been greatly influenced by classical sculpture, as well as by Greek concepts of Gods and mortals. Alexander was widley known for taking pleasure in the reproduction of his own visage, having understood the value of portraits and statues as products of propaganda.

This might be why Alexandrian India, with a partly Greek population as well as ties to Greek tradition, was the earliest area to produce Buddha statues. These became immensely popular and the concept spread with Buddhism itself, even so as Islam restricted the manifestation of the human form and looked at such sculpture as idolatry,  many of the ancient and exquisite statues of the Buddha in that area are no longer standing.

There are a couple of established poses for these sculptures that pertain to certain principles or moments in the life of the Buddha.

But the most fascinating is the reclining pose of the Buddha. There are two variations. The first portrays the Buddha, relaxing with his head in his hand. This is the sleeping Buddha, however the other similar pose, where Buddha’s feet are together, symbolizes the day the Buddha went into Nirvana.

Aged 80, the Buddha sat down to rest and told his disciples he would soon enter parinirvana, the condition that occurs whenever the physical body of somebody that has accomplished complete awakening or enlightenment ultimately dies. He consumed his final meal and then became violently ill. He asked his followers for any requests that they had and when there weren’t any he offered all of them his final directions. “All composite things pass away. Strive for your own liberation with diligence.” History says that when his body was put between the sala trees, the plants bloomed, though it was not the season.

This is the occasion commemorated by the reclining Buddha statue.  In Thailand the most common pose shows the Buddha with legs crossed and with his left hand in his lap while the right points to the ground, palm inward in a pose called ‘Calling the Earth to Witness’ and relates to the precise of the Buddha’s enlightenment.

Whatever form your room, right now there is a Buddha statue which will probably match, delivering a sensation of peace and harmony to your world and surroundings.

They have been called wee folk, and good folk, and many more names in their long history. If you have decided that a fairy tattoo design is what you are looking for then I suggest you keep reading and I will supply you with some of the myths and legends surrounding this wondrous creature.

Fairy tattoo designs usually show fairies as human in appearance, and they vary in appearance from cute to evil, sexy to angelic, and everything in-between.

The origins of the fairies are vague and many different versions have explained there existence. Things have changed now as fairies are pictured as helpful, fun creatures, much like Tinkerbelle in Peter Pan.

In early folklore fairies were originally as tall as a small child, back then, fairies were to be avoided, as they were known to steal babies and old people and replace them with replicas that looked exactly the same.

There were many ways to avoid capture by the evil fairies; you could put an iron fence around your house as iron was considered poisonous to the fairies. The swords and spears of early invaders appears to have spurned the myth of the fairies and the poison iron.  Or you could find yourself a four leaf clover, or better still, a simple piece of bread (as bread was seen as a symbol of life), would keep the little devils at bay.

Other evil fairy deterrents included the ringing of church bells or running water. Even wearing your clothes inside out was a deterrent, and I think it’s safe to say if you walked around wearing your clothes inside out you probably would scare off more than just the fairies!

And so, with so many charms available to ward off the naughty fairies perhaps evil fairies weren’t such a problem after all.

A common view was that fairies were the souls of dead humans. One quaint story tells of a man who said he came upon a fairy, and when he looked closely into the fairies eyes he saw it was someone he known who had died recently.

I did mention he was walking from his local pub, didn’t I.

Another view is that fairies were somewhere between heaven and hell. This would explain their impish behaviour, because they were not devils, but not quite angels. Take for example, bad hair days, they could be explained as fairies visiting you as you slept and tangling your hair, or “Elf-locks as it was known then.

And if you were wondering why you always wake up during the night, well you can blame those pesky fairies, because, as legend has it, if they thought you kept an untidy house they would pinch you as you slept. When you are late for work because you slept in, try blaming the fairies.

Also, they were credited with sending you the wrong way on your travels, and where did I put those keys? You guessed it, the fairies again.

If you decide on getting yourself the best fairy tattoo design, remember nowadays fairies are seen as good luck charms, and if you know the name of your fairy, so the story goes, that fairy must grant your wishes.

Henna tattoo became a fashion rage when Celebrities like Madonna and Demi Moore started sporting it in the late 1980. It was an ancient body art that started from the Middle East Asian countries and evolving to today’s modern genre for artistic expression.

This temporary tattoo is not only popular in the United States and Britain but all over the world. It became the best alternative for ink and permanent tattoo because, it is safer and cheaper. But the very reason why people loved it is the fact that it is temporary, you get the same as the real thing but, you will never go off style. There are various henna tattoo design and they are so easy to make.

A lot of people applies henna tattoo but very little knew that centuries back people have been painting each other. Henna, also known as mendhi is a shrub like plant that only grows in places with relatively hot and dry climate. Places like Sudan, Pakistan, Egypt and India, North African and Middle Eastern countries. The mendhi leaves are ground to powder and turns into paste then applied artistically into skin. It then leaves an orange stain which later darkens into reddish-brown. After 4 to 6 weeks, it begins to fade as your skin renews. When the entire tattoo fades, they paint themselves again.

Henna tattoo was introduced by Muslims. The women before are using henna to decorate themselves for ceremonies, especially on weddings when the bride meets the groom and his family the first time. They apply it in their hands and feet and wore it every day. However, widows do not wear them as a sign of mourning.

There are four styles of henna tattoo, the Middle Eastern style which are mostly floral designs, the North American using geometrical floral designs, the Indian and Pakistani designs and the Indonesian or South East Asian styles with blocks of colors on the fingernails and toenails. These traditional styles have evolved and expanded to various henna tattoo designs of today influenced by the different cultures that we have and personal inspirations. It has become an outlet to many and a way of expressing themselves.

But, what makes henna tattoo great and better that any other body art is the fact that it can be applied for an hour or less depending on the design size. You need not worry that it would be there for the rest of your life for, you can change it and choose from variety of henna tattoo designs that are available everywhere, you can even experiment with the designs and wear it just the way you like it.

It is a wonderful and the coolest, trendiest art form and should be passed on to generations and kept alive.

There is a reason why a large number of Chopper-Tattoo members sing the praises of this site.

What I loved about this site was the enormous range of award winning designs to choose from. Chopper-Tattoo has made the call that it is the largest, and it’s not hard to see why. It will blow your mind when you get access to thousands of tattoo designs at a very low membership fee.

The member’s gallery is great as you get to see how the best tattoo designs look on real bodies. Seeing how a particular design wraps around an arm or leg is a great help.

When you have found your ideal tattoo design, Chopper-Tattoo we also provide a tattoo parlour locator, and I’m talking worldwide locator that will show you where the best tattoo artist is in your area.

After you have found the best tattoo design for you, just print out the design and take it to an artist, it’s that easy.

There’s a discussion forum where you can discuss your ideas with members and tattoo artists, and get feedback on ideas or what others think of your own designs. Get the views of others on your own tattoo or maybe some ideas for your next.

Chopper-Tattoo also provides for members educational tattoo videos for those wanting to go further and become a tattooist, or maybe want to see what happens at the parlour if this your first tattoo.

The joining fee is quite reasonable considering it is a onetime lifetime membership that gives you instant unlimited access to the best tattoo designs. If you are contemplating taking out a membership with Chopper-Tattoo or some other tattoo design site, then the best thing about taking out membership is that now time is on your side. I like the idea of browsing through catalogues of the best tattoo designs, without the pressure you feel inside a parlour. For example, I went into a parlour with the intensions of getting a snake tattoo design and came out with a butterfly on my arm? If I had only been a member back then I’m sure my upper arm tattoo design would look a lot different now. So, you can see the real value of becoming a member. You can spend a great deal of money at a tattoist, so it’s better to know what you want before you walk in that door. Remember what I said about the butterfly. And also, your tattooist can always make suggestions or alterations to individualise your choice.

The reason Chopper-Tattoo is number one in tattoo designs is not by accident. With a 60 day money back guarantee it’s worth paying a visit, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. If you like what you have read so far

Everyone can do henna tattoo on their own, it is so easy to prepare as long as you know how. It is very basic actually and the procedure in making henna paste is so simple and the henna tattoo materials to use are all organic and safe.

For henna paste:

- Henna or menhdi leaves

- Eucalyptus or lavender oil

- Coffee or tea liquid

For application:

- Plastic tube bottle (or toothpick… anything you are comfortable with)

- Tattoo design/pattern

Procedure:

Dry henna leaves under the heat of the sun. When dry enough, pound it till it turns into powder.

Add the henna powder with a certain amount of coffee or tea liquid to moisten it. Make it is neither too watery nor hard sticky.

Put a small amount of eucalyptus or lavender oil to make it toothpaste like.

Let it settle for 6 to 12 hours.

The body part where the henna tattoo will be painted matters a lot, apart from the preparation procedure of the paste and the before and after applications are. It lasts longer on body parts that are less exposed and not constantly washed than parts that are constantly washed and exposed like, arms, hands, feet and face.

The trick really is to have the patience. The application only takes an hour or less depending on the style and size of the henna tattoo design but, the preparation and the after application is where the waiting happens. However, I can assure you that the result you will get is definitely worth the wait.
